Water Softener
A water softener is a filtration system that removes high concentrations of calcium and magnesium that cause hard water using cation resin. When water flows through the softener, these hard minerals are exchanged with cation, resulting in softer water.
Hard water can lead to scale build-up in pipes, reducing water flow and decreasing the lifespan of home appliances. Water softeners eliminate these problems, enhance the effectiveness of soaps and detergents, and can improve the taste of water.
Our water softener uses ion-exchange technology. As water flows through the system, hard minerals are replaced with sodium ions, making the water softer.
Yes, softened water is safe to drink and often tastes better than hard water. The amount of sodium added to the water is about 20.8mg/ 8 oz cup of water. Compare that to milk which has 120mg for the same cup size. Sodium intake by soft water is negatable in a regular diet.
This depends on the hardness of your water and the amount of water you use. On average, it’s recommended to check salt levels every 4-6 weeks.
With proper maintenance, a quality water softener can last 10 to 15 years.
Regularly adding salt to the brine tank and occasionally cleaning the system are the primary maintenance tasks.
Yes. Some plumbing knowledge is needed. For those who are hands on, we do offer quick tutorial on installing our Protosoft Water Softener. While some people do choose to install water softeners themselves, we also offer professional installation to ensure optimal functioning.

Protoclean RO System
An RO (Reverse Osmosis) system is a water purification technology that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove impurities and contaminants from water, providing clean and safe drinking water.
The RO system forces water under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane, allowing only water molecules to pass through. Contaminants, impurities, and dissolved salts are retained and flushed away.
While the need for an RO system depends on your local water quality, it can be beneficial as it removes a wide range of contaminants that might be present in your water, ensuring safe and clean drinking water.
Generally, first 3 filters( sediment, GAC and CTO) should be changed every 12 months, but the RO membrane can last 5 years. These timelines can vary based on your water quality and usage. A water sample test can determine if RO membrane needs to be changed.
While the RO system can be installed by the user, we recommend professional installation to ensure optimal functioning and to maintain the product warranty.
Yes, the RO process can remove beneficial minerals along with the contaminants. Beneficial minerals are usually taken in from other dietary food. If this is still a concern, a remineralization stage can be added to add these back into the water.
While it’s true that RO systems do produce wastewater during the filtration process, modern high-efficiency models have significantly reduced this amount. Protoclean has a ratio of 1:3
Regular maintenance of an RO system involves changing the bottom 3 filters (sediment, GAC and CTO) every 12 months, the RO membrane every 5 years depending on the water quality.
